ART IS MY SUPERPOWER

Powerful Pathway

I know that the journey

Has so many different turns

The end destination is unknown

The path I walk,

Is exciting to stroll.

Sometimes

The way is difficult

With barriers in my way

So many hurdles I've had to face

But it has help me grow and learn so much

I know

There will be

sunshine, rain, snow and

Strong winds on my path,

But not every step of the way will be the same

Each chapter will be different

I look back.

My path stretches far and wide behind me.

I take a pause and

See how far I've come

All the

Amazing achievements

I have

Achieved so far.

I see the path behind me

The rough pavements are empty

And see the routes I took.

Also

Seeing the paths I walked with others.

Getting nostalgic

At the sight of places,

Seeing many, many faces

I see how much I've grown

I had to take a leap of faith

Even though a lot of

People didn't believe in me

Even though

I was nervous and doubtful

After everything

Sometimes I think

Can I do this?

Can I really do this?

Yes, I can

Maybe

No, I don't think

Can I do this?

Come on

Get it together

I remember stepping

Out on stage on my own for the first time

The first time

I read my work out loud to people

How nervous I was.

I look at the shelf

Where I put all my creativity

Thinking about all the things

I could be doing but was too afraid to share my Work after so much

Noise clouded my thoughts.

I was also asked what my superpower

Was

But I never knew how to answer

Do I have a superpower?

Do I even have a superpower?

A question I asked myself a lot

I'm not sure

What my superpower is

I look forward

And even though sometimes

There is no sunlight

Or even moonlight to light my path,

I'll hold up my torch and carry on

After that powerful reflection

I keep on walking, walking and walking

I'm home.

Unwanted Noise

I listen to the rain

As it taps against my window

I look over and

Watch the droplets

Fall so slowly like tears

As I sit still on my bed

And begin to think

I’ve always loved creating

Ever since I was little

But I didn't know

It would bring a platter

Of shadowing voices

That had so much to say

Lots of unwanted noise

That could fill a whole room

It flew at me

From all different directions

I felt like

I couldn’t catch a break.

Tears well up

As I sink down into the ground.

I couldn't even tell what was happening

I forgot how to shout

Feeling like

I lost my voice

You can hear a faint sound but not much.

I begin searching for my voice,

Checking

For its hidden noise but I couldn't find it.

They

Had so much power

Turning the blue walls

Into chaotic black

What is happening?

My bones felt like a mirror

About to shatter into a million pieces

The silence was the loudest it’s ever been

Drowning everything else out

Time goes by so slowly

It starts to move around

And whisper in my ear

A sudden fear goes

Right through me

I've never got like this before

Where are you coming from?

Sneaking in through any cracks

You can find

Stopping me in my tracks

Making me feel stuck in a maze

Mind in a constant loop

Feeling lost in the haze

Four walls please catch me

As the cracks begin to open up

Beneath me

Where’s the spotlight?

Can’t seem to find it

Don't think I can do this

Seems so blurry

Mysterious mystical mist

Begins to form around me

Closing me in

It was a sunny bright lovely day

A day so comforting

The kind of one that

Was inviting me with a glowing invitation

Peace & Healing

The wind whistles quietly around me

I close my eyes as I lose those fears

The calmness

I feel just sat here soothes my mind.

Sometimes it's so hard to find that peace

When so much is happening around you

This is something I noticed

Peace is something we all seek,

When the noise takes over,

The shadowing winds cloud our vision and

Makes us feel weak.

Peace is something we all need,

We have to create our own peace bubbles

The power of meditation

Stillness in the world.

Peace is something we all deserve so

Electricity In My Veins

I feel so relaxed as this new form of

Energy circles around

It darts right through my skin

Remaining so energetic

Powering me up daily

My eyes glow up

Boxes

I've been told I must stay in a box

For my whole life and stay in there

Well

That didn't feel right and

Left me confused for so long

People have always

Tried to put me into boxes of their choice

This is something

I have to

Experience over and over again

Finding it so hard to fit anywhere

Because

I'm given a label

Without

Even saying one word.

It was like people

Wanted me to remain in

The gloomy cold damp boxes

It felt like

A big net caught me

Trying to

Limit the things that I can do

Saying that I should only be doing one thing

I wasn't sure what to do for so long leaving me Glued on the spot.
Well,

What I do know is

That I can do more than one thing

And that's okay

I'm going to step

Out of the box that society puts me in

Breathe and show the world what I can do

As we're not meant to

Be restricted to any boxes at all.

I like to do a lot of different things because

My mind is a creative pallet

With endless possibilities

I can

Wear different creative hats,

Take on different roles,

Learn new experiences and

Grow in my own time.

We Have To Keep On Fighting (ft. Nadia)

MANNY:

We have all been told that art is not that important,

Being a creative person won't get you anywhere

But we have to keep on fighting

You tell us to stop what we're doing

But we have to continue and

Show them what we can do

So many closed door

I’ve had to face over the years

Felt like a ton of bricks fell on me

So many times

I've been told that I am

Not that smart, not a good writer,

I won't get anywhere because of my race

I couldn't do

Anything creative because

I'm a male

This made me find it hard to share my work, Made me feel confused and also hesitant a lot When it comes to my creative work.

I've always loved being creative

But with everything that was going on

I wasn't sure what to do anymore.

The amount of times I heard people say

You shouldn't pick something creative because It won't get you anywhere.

Other subjects have always been seen as more Important than the creative subjects which is So unfair.

I’ve always found that difficult since

I’m a creative person

I enjoy writing, being creative,

Collaborating with people

And more.

We have to use our art to educate, tell our Stories, push boundaries, make a noise,

Even

Though the world wants to push us to the back And wants us to remain mute.

We have all been told

That art is not that important,

Being a creative person

Won't get you anywhere

But we have to keep on pushing forward,

Keep on supporting each other,

We have to

Keep on fighting.

Nadia:

'I'm no good at art'

I'd repeatedly say

To myself, to others. And this perspective

Made me take the long way round

To where I am now: writing poems

Creating digital art and animations

I was subconsciously steered

Towards a life full of politics and policy

Corporations and research

Just by being in proximity

To such a politically

Orientated family

Family who were also sure

They were not good at art

I erroneously believed

That art and politics didn't mix

Even though art is inherently political

It's personal.

Politically powerful

The way my culture

Sees art impacted my

Involvement in it

I mirrored art's cultural deprioritization

It's devaluation, in my speech

In my actions

I put my creativity down

Art as a field is

Feminised and as such

It is not as respected

As say mathematics, economics

And comparatively

Usually the employment opportunities are

Nowhere near as lucrative

Yet the impact of art should not be

Underestimated

Disrespected

It is omnipresent

World changing

Mind bending

It allows us to savour time

Which is the most important thing

It is inspiration, hope, communication

A place to showcase

The better sides

Of humanity

And isn't that something

We are all yearning for?

With our art we are pushing for what's right

But even if they succeed in squashing

Artistic opportunities, art will never die

As it is esoteric. It's the expression

Of continuous life.

Of energy

Art is our humanity.

Every colour is so powerful

We need a lot of hope,

And especially a lot of love.

Optimism, and a new promise,

To touch people's lives

And help them.

Walked through the fog

Even though my eyes were stinging

Puddles of tears shaped

On the dark frosty pavements

I decided to carry on

My eyes became hungry again with so much Power and an enchanted dream,

I'm choosing to charge ahead

In lighting speed and

Swiftly ascend around

I'm feeling a bit stronger than before

I'll be skating in the air, shooting electrical bolts Out of my hands, shapeshifting into anything I Wanted to and running as fast as I can

This is so cool to have

Attained all these amazing abilities

While on this journey.

After everything I've been

Through and always being asked what my Superpower was

I now know that

Art is one of my superpowers.

I know people didn't want me to create Anymore

But I've decided to continue and
